I freeze. And it’s not because of the frigid rain pouring down on me.
He walks towards us. He’s wearing a checkered shirt, black skinny jeans, converse, and ray bans.
I don’t understand why he’s wearing ray bands considering that it’s raining but I don’t care, I really don’t want to look into his eyes. I’d probably melt.
I realize that I have been staring at him and snap back.
” What happened Dre?” he says.
“Nothing, just a dent.”
Bruno looks at the dent and then looks at me.
“I’m sorry!” I blurted.
“Hey, don’t worry about it. Happens all the time to me. Well, not really. ” He laughs.
I feel terrible and he notices. He gives me a reassuring smile, making sure that I know everythings alright.
“Let’s just forget this ever happened, alright sweet heart?”
“Come on Dre, we can’t be late. We got a show! ”
With that, they get back to there van and drive away. I get back into my car, completely drenched, and go on with my way.
I get to the school at 8. There are some kids outside playing since the bell rings at 8:50am.
I go into the classroom I was assigned to.
Ms. Martin was the classes’ teacher.
“Ahh, goodmorning ms. Watson. What took you so long?”
“Traffic. ” I lied.
I still couldn’t believe what had happened, I wasn’t in the mood to talk about it.
“Oh, this storm is a big one, eh?”
“Yes, it is.”
“I’ve got a little marking left to do, you mind doing the rest while I check up on some books for story time?”
With that she leaves. I sit at an empty desk and start my marking. It’s spelling tests.
I look out the window. It’s still raining. I can’t get Bruno out of mind. I mean, I am a fan, but not a huge fan. He was just so nice.
I thought I would never see him again after that. Little did I know, I was wrong.
“Hey, guys how does this dress look?”
“It looks great Chelse” says Casey.
“You sure? I feel fat.”
“Trust me, you look great” I say.
Its Saturday night and all I want to do is spend the night with my girls. I really need girl time to get all this stress of my shoulder. By stress I mean my ex.
I know it’s been a month, but it’s hard to forget when we both have the same shifts at Starbucks every Friday.
“Alright, let’s head out. ” says Casey.
We have dinner, and then reach the bar at 9. There’s not much people here, since this place is pretty new.
It’s Josh. How great.
Soon enough Josh takes Chelse away and they’re by themselves. Casey and I hangout on our own.
“So, how’s being student teacher like?”
“Its going great. I really can’t wait till I graduate teachers college.”
“I know you do Kate. I remember you’ve always wanted to be a teacher since elementary school, we used to play pretend during recess and you always wanted to be the teacher!”
We laugh. The memories we share are priceless. Casey’s phone rings.
“Hey, I’ll be right back, it’s my boss. You know how he is.”
Casey leaves and now I’m left alone.
The bartender gives me my drink. I sit by myself, at the bartenders table, drinking.
“One vodka please” says the person sitting next to me. For some reason, I recognize his voice.
I don’t want to turn to see who it is, but I do.
I freeze. Its Bruno.
