Chapter 4

"You have really beautiful eyes, if you don't mind me saying." Stop. Rewind. Play. "You have really beautiful eyes, if you don't mind me saying. I couldn't stop playing it over to myself. It still hadn't sunk in that Bruno really said that to me. That he looked at me the way he did. That he was on his way to my house for dinner. I had spent all day listening to his songs, watching interviews and looking up photos of him. I felt like I knew everything about him already.

I played "On Top of the World" on my iPod stereo while I was getting ready. I didn't wanna look too over the top, but I didn't wanna look to casual either. I settled on a pair of skinny jeans with one of my new jumpers, and a beret. I put my wavy hair into a side ponytail. Perfect.

My apartment wasn't the most amazing thing you would come across. It was simply just a kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. I spent part of the day cleaning everything and trying to work out what to eat. I settled on spaghetti - it was easy to make, and hopefully he would like it.

I heard a buzz from the intercom. I nearly screamed and started jumping up and down like a fool. I ran to the intercom. "Hello?"

"It's your boy, Bruno!" I heard him say. "Imma take you to the top!"

"Oh my gosh.. was the music that loud?" I blushed.

"Just a little."

"I'll buzz you in"

When I welcomed Bruno inside, he had a single rose which he gave to me.

"Roses are my favourite, thank you."

"You're very welcome. I hope you don't mind that we had to come here instead of going to a nice restaurant. It would've been nice, but the photographers..."

"Don't even worry about it" I said. "I completely understand."

He smiled at me. "Sometimes it's nicer to just chill out anyway, am I right?"

I nodded at him.

We ate the food, which he enjoyed. I didn't really classify myself as cook so the fact that he finished it all baffled me. I poured him a glass of wine and we sat together on the couch for a while, talking about him, talking about me. It was very nice, there were no other words to describe it. We had been laughing and joking, and learning about each other.

It was very humbling to talk to Bruno. He keeps his eyes on you, and really listens to what you have to say. There was so much tension every time I looked at him - all I wanted to do was kiss him and have him hold me in his arms.

"So you don't have any siblings?" he asked.

"Nope, it's just me. My parents passed away when I was twelve in a car accident. I have my friend Lilah whos like a sister though." Lilah would've gone crazy if she knew I was on a date with Bruno Mars. She was such a big fan. I grabbed my laptop that was sitting on the coffee table and opened up a photo of me and Lilah.

"She's very pretty" I said.

"So are you." said Bruno. I blushed.

"Is this how you win over all the girls?" I joked. Bruno laughed.

"Hey, I got a reputation to keep up!"

"Your humor is charming, but doesn't work on me." Lie. I stuck my tongue out at him, and he did the same back. I closed the photo that was open on the laptop.

"Hey, you said I could read some of your work." said Bruno.

"I never agreed to that! Besides I'm not very good at writing."

"World famous, Grammy winning producer here! I can give you constructive criticism." I gave him a look. He gave me a puppy dog face.

"Are you serious?" I said. He gave me an innocent smile. I shook my head. "Fine". I opened up a short poem I had written in the early hours of the morning that had just passed.

I sat there, watching his eyes travel with the words on the screen. It was nerve wracking. Especially because he was the inspiration behind it. He closed the laptop and looked at me.

"Its really good."

"I don't believe you" I said.

"No no no, believe me it is. It's incredible."

We kind of just stared at each other for a while. Then I felt him leaning in towards me. I put my hand on his cheek and our lips nearly met. I could feel him breathing on me. I smiled and leaned in when suddenly the intercom buzzed. Of all times, someone had to be here now.

"I'm sorry, I don't know who it is..." I got up and walked to the intercom. Whoever was trying to get in kept buzzing like crazy,

"BRUNO MARS IS IN THIS BUILDING. ARIA LET ME IN NOW!" I immediately recognized the voice as Lilah's. I turned to Bruno, who was laughing to himself. He shrugged his shoulders at me.

"Lilah, what are you talking about?" I said calmly.

"There are paparazzi parked out here, there's pics on the Internet of him coming into this building, so I am buzzing myself in!"

I tried to act shocked. Bruno had already got a pic up off the net and was holding it up to me. It showed him walking into the apartment complex.

"How are you going to do that?" I asked.

"Cause I took the liberty of getting a key made last year" said Lilah. I could hear her coming up the stairs.

"Bruno, she's coming in here!"

"What do I do?" he asked. She was already at the door and unlocking it. I turned to face the door and she was standing there, shocked. I turned back, and Bruno was gone.

"You made spaghetti without me, thanks!" she said. "You know spaghetti is my favourite. Now, did you see Bruno? who's apartment do you reckon he went into?"

I was there, shocked. Trying to work out how to get rid of her. Don't get me wrong, I love Lilah to bits, but now. was. not. the. time.

"Lilah, I think he left, there was a commotion earlier but I had no idea what was going on downstairs." It was the only thing I could think of.

"You don't seem very excited that the Grammy winning, singer songwriter producer, BRUNO MARS,  was spotted in this building!"

"Of course I am, Bruno Mars is cool. But it's happened and now he's gone, so I guess the excitements gone." Smooth recovery.

"Isn't he just soooo hot?" said Lilah. "His dimples are amazing."

"I know..."

Lilah took the liberty of taking some spaghetti home for herself. "Remember we are meeting for lunch tomorrow, you are telling me all about his concert, okay?" I waved and she left. I peered through the peep hole before calling out.

"Bruno, where are you?"

I walked into my room, he wasn't there. I peered into the ensuite bathroom and he wasn't there either. When I turned around, he was standing right behind me, which made me jump.

"You scared me! That was so close." I said.

"I have ninja reflexes girl, I am a legend" we both laughed. "Now, remind me how amazing my dimples are" he joked.

"They are very, very, amazing..." and the next thing I knew, Bruno had crushed his lips onto mine. I put my hands around his neck. It was the most beautiful kiss ever. To have his arms around my waist, and his lips on mine, was amazing. I didn't want that moment to end.

I don't know what Lilah said to the paparazzi, but they had disappeared. I didn't want Bruno to leave, but we were both busy the next day. He had various interviews and I told Lilah I would spent the afternoon with her.

"I had a wonderful night" said Bruno.

"Same goes. Except for the part when Lilah came in..."

"Don't worry, it was funny! and I liked hiding in your closet."

"You hid in my closet?!" I lightly hit in on his arm.

"I didn't touch anything! and we are doing this again another time." he said. He gave me one last kiss. We ended up being against the door. I pulled away, bit my lip and looked at him. How was it even possible this was happening to me?

"You're so cute when you bite your lip" Bruno whispered into my ear. I opened the door for him, and watched him walk down the stairs. He stopped, ran back up and gave me a quick peck.

"What was that for?" I said.

"Nothing. Goodnight." I watched him walk down the stairs. He turned back to me, smiled, and walked out.
